TRAVEL MASTERS TAKES ON LOS CABOS

Travel Masters recently organized a FAM to Los Cabos, Mexico exclusively for their Experience Specialists. The trip was hosted by Daina Gasner, Product & Support Manager of Travel Masters and Freddie Marsh, Business Development Manager of Playa Hotels & Resorts Western Canada.

The trip was attended by 10 Travel Masters agents representing locations in VancouverSecheltCalgaryPrince Albert and Saskatoon. The agents stayed in Los Cabos for 4 days, 3 nights which gave them a chance to do training, a site inspection and learn about Los Cabos. Since Travel Masters has locations as well as independent agents across all of Western Canada, this trip was a chance for everyone to meet and get to know each other on more of a personal basis.

Los Cabos is located at the southern tip of the State of Baja California Sur. Travel Masters visited San Jose del Cabo, one of the two popular coastal cities in Los Cabos with the other being Cabo San Lucas, 20 miles away. The Los Cabos peninsula has year round sunshine, beautiful desert landscaping, the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez surrounding it, making it known as a fantastic sun destination. However, most of the beaches in the area (with a few exceptions) are closed to swimming as a result of a strong rip currents.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is part of the Playa Resorts portfolio and is an all-inclusive resort suitable for guests of all ages. It is located in San Jose del Cabo and offers spectacular views of the Sea of Cortez. A short drive from Cabo San Lucas and the Los Cabos International Airport, this resort boasts of 12 restaurants, bars, lounges, 4 pools and Wifi throughout the resort.

For the agents’ first day in Cabo, they participated in a site inspection of the Hyatt Ziva property and had dinner at Zaffiro, a beachfront Italian restaurant. Zaffiro offered plenty of traditional Italian dishes and there was also a stone pizza oven bar offering custom pizzas! The dinner was served family style which was a great way to accommodate the large group and gave everyone the chance to taste all the different dishes offered.

On day 2, the agents had a training session where they learned about selling insurance, Playa Resorts, WestJet Groups, and Terramar (transfers). They were also given an update on Los Cabos from the Los Cabos Tourism Board and a presentation by Jayson, from Casa Hogar which provides housing for kids in need. Later on in the day, the agents were treated to a private sunset cruise to El Arco de Cabo San Lucas (Land’s End) where they mingled and sipped on mimosas while cruising and watched the beautiful Mexican sunset.

On the third day, there were no activities scheduled and agents were free to learn about the resort in their own time. They all reconvened for one last group dinner at Dozo, a Japanese restaurant where they experienced teppanyaki style cuisine.

“One of the best things about this trip was that it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other as colleagues” said Daina Gasner, Product & Support Manager at Travel Masters. “We wanted to create a FAM where agents from different areas could get together, receive training, share stories, advice and feel more a part of a team.
